Medieval Combat Wales is the governing body for full contact medieval combat within Wales. We are members of the Intonational Medieval Combat Federation (IMCF). Our duty is to regulate the sport, ensuring that it is practiced safely and responsibly. Although the group has existed for over a decade in some form or another until 2019 it was run along side the english federation but as of January 2020 we are now officially an all Wales organisation!

What is Medieval Combat?

In a nutshell: A combat sport utilising blunted steel weapons and historical armour in group fights and individual duels.

The sport of medieval combat has been evolving since its inception in the early 2000s. It had a number of different governing bodies international and domestically. In the early days of the sport there was a huge amount of variation in rules and styles but things have become a fair amount more formalised and structured as time has moved on.

Rule sets vary depending on the discipline but in general individual dues are scored on a points based system and group fights (known as Buhurt) are to the knockdown. Visit the FAQs page for more details.
